Yoga Classes

Our yoga classes are a blend of yoga styles and practices, mainly based on Hatha.

The sessions are built to suit the needs of the class each day, whilst maintaining flow and purpose, uniting body, mind, and spirit.

Pilates Classes

PILATES targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from your core. Re-balancing the body to bring you into a correct alignment. Your body will become longer leaner and more toned and have an excellent balance between strength and flexibility

Yoga Teacher Training

We have now launched our Yoga Teacher training courses. There is both the option for eran intensive course and a long-term course that can include some online theory classes. Please contact us if you are interested.

Thank you to both Helen and Eric in providing one of the most wonderful retreats I’ve ever attended. Technically the yoga and Pilates sessions were superb. Wonderful location and really lovely food . We will definitely visit again. I would highly recommend to everyone. Thank you both.

Our Team

Eric Butler

Eric was trained as a Pilates instructor in New York by Fran Lehen, herself a student of Carola Strauss (one of Joseph Pilates’ original students). He has been an instructor for over 20 years, first at Fran’s studio in New York, followed by his own studio in Copenhagen, then together with Helen at Cardiff Pilates Studio, and now at The Field. 
He has practiced Yoga for most of his life and is a registered Yoga Alliance International teacher. He also runs our certified 200 hour yoga teacher training that draws on many different aspects of his knowledge.
As an ex-modern dancer, dance teacher, he has a great understanding of different body types and individual needs. He has been particularly successful helping clients with spinal problems


Helen Saunders

Helen is an ex-dancer from The Royal Ballet. She qualified as a Body Control Pilates Instructor in 2008, after a long career in the theatre as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer.

Helen and Eric opened Cardiff Pilates Studio in 2009, but after six years were lured away to the beautiful French countryside to build The Field Retreat.

Helen’s class is flowing and incorporates aspects from all of her experience as a Pilates and dance teacher. She adapts the class to suit any level of client from total beginners to super advanced.

About Us

The Field is beautiful. A haven of tranquillity, surrounded by rolling hills.

The gardens are full of wildflowers, bumblebees, geckos, and beautiful birds.

The pond is full of frogs and also the odd duck or goose.

We try to leave as much of it untouched as possible, to keep natural habitats for the local wildlife.
